Cheylesmore Tricycle
Tadpole trikes are not a new idea as this example from 1882 illustrates. The Cheylesmore Tricycle was made as a safer alternative to the penny farthing bicycles of the era.- Two front, one rear wheels.
- The wheels seem large but are somewhat smaller than the penny farthing bikes of the day.
- The seat has a backrest.
- Chain driven.
Solid rubber tires are even still around marketed as puncture proof tyres.
